Features to Look for in Floor Plans at BYU Student Housing

By January 31, 2022September 10th, 2024No Comments

Living on-campus and off-campus is drastically different. One of these differences is the floor plan. Off-campus BYU student housing comes with much more space, privacy, and amenities in their floor plans than on-campus housing. Floor plan layouts vary by apartment so continue reading for features to consider in your search for an ideal living space.

Kitchen

Unlike on-campus housing, off-campus housing includes a kitchen in their floor plan. A kitchen will give you an opportunity to cook for yourself. Be sure to take account of the space, light, and appliances of the kitchen. If you know you will be spending a lot of time in the kitchen, you will want lots of storage space and top-notch appliances like a dishwasher, fridge, oven, and microwave.

Living Room

The living room is a great place to host gatherings. Some living rooms come furnished with couches, a coffee table, and a TV while others do not. Add a personal touch to your living room by including throw pillows, a rug, or hanging pictures.

Bedroom

The bedroom is perhaps the most important feature of a floor plan. It’s important to decide whether you’d like a shared room or a private room. Bedrooms may provide a bed, desk, closet, and dresser. If you are worried about your belongings getting stolen, check to see if the bedroom door has a lock.

Bathroom

BYU student housing floor plans can have either a shared or a private bathroom. If you don’t mind sharing a bathroom or you prefer more privacy, choose a bathroom that best suits your preferences. Other factors to consider are storage space, the shower head, and the bathtub.

Laundry

Doing laundry is a responsibility all college students have when they leave the house. Some student housing in Provo have public laundry facilities and others provide a washer and dryer inside each apartment. The cost of doing laundry varies each complex so pick the option that fits your budget.

Balcony

Depending on which floor you’re living on, the floor plan might include a balcony. A balcony is a great place to get fresh air, lounge and enjoy the view, and decorate with plants. Add it to your checklist if a balcony is appealing to you.

These are just some of the floor plan features to consider when you move into BYU student housing. Pick a floor plan that is within your budget and best fits your needs!
